Job summary

National Police is seeking a Telecommunicator with experience in public safety dispatch to receive, manage, and record emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and EMS services.

The role requires handling high-stress situations, providing pre-arrival instructions, and ensuring accurate data entry into CAD/NCIC systems. Candidates must be capable of recalling 24 hours a day and meet state certification requirements.

Qualifications

  • Available for recall 24 hours a day.
  • Must be certified by the State for LINK/NCIC terminal operation within the mandated period of time.
  • Must be certified by the State in accordance with the Telecommunication Professional Standards (TPS).
  • Must be able to lift forty (40) pounds or more to a height of four (4) feet or more.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Eyesight must be correctable to 20/20 vision.
  • Hearing must be within normal acceptable range of 20-25 with or without a hearing aid.

Responsibilities

  • Screen Initial Calls and ascertain incident information including location and type of incident.
  • Dispatch the appropriate agency, persons, and/or equipment after screening and categorizing calls.
  • Process requests for service for law enforcement, fire and medical personnel with real-time data entry in CAD and NCIC systems.
  • Document information accurately to create a permanent incident record.
  • Manage radio traffic and maintain situational awareness during incidents.
  • Operate multiple agency communication equipment and software used for dispatch and response.
