Job summary

Milwaukee County is seeking a Command Duty Officer (CDO) for Emergency Management Communications to manage EMS communications, triage, and incident coordination. The role requires EMT/Paramedic certification and at least one year of radio/EMS experience, with the ability to work 2nd/3rd shifts and overtime.

The CDO will monitor field communications, EMS transports for events, and countywide dashboards, ensuring timely notifications to hospitals, PSAPs, and senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Wisconsin resident at time of application.
  • Must have EMT/Paramedic certification and experience.
  • Must pass criminal background and employment verification checks.
  • One year of experience with radio communication or EMS operations.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and work weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Relaying patient information between EMS field providers and hospitals.
  • Triaging trauma reports and coordinating with EMS, hospitals, and field units.
  • Monitor CAD/FirstWatch and disseminate emergency alerts.
  • Notify Medical Director and OEM leadership during mass casualty or emergencies.
  • Maintain countywide situational awareness and dashboards; coordinate with dispatch centers.
