Job summary

Sheriff’s Department is seeking a Communication Officer to handle emergency call intake, triage, and dispatch for police and public safety agencies. The role requires calm judgment, fast decision-making, and accurate data entry under pressure.

Responsibilities include operating radio and computer systems, coordinating with responders, and providing pre-arrival medical instructions while maintaining logs and reports. A HS diploma or GED is required, with related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; one year of experience in emergency communications, radio communications or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Knowledge of emergency communications procedures and radio codes.
• Ability to operate multiple communications systems under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Operates telephones, communications equipment, and law enforcement computers in police, fire and E-911 communications.
• Receives, screens and prioritizes routine and emergency calls from the public and agencies.
• Dispatches appropriate personnel and backup units to incident locations.
• Maintains communications with all parties involved in emergency situations.
• Relays pre-arrival medical instructions to assist lifesaving treatment.
