Job summary

Public Safety Dispatch Network seeks 911 Call Takers to be the first contact for emergencies, asking focused questions and documenting details for responders.

Call taking may be a standalone role or paired with radio dispatch. Training and certifications are required, with shifts including nights, weekends, and overtime in a 24/7 operation.

Previous customer service or public safety experience helps, with strong listening, typing speed, and calm communication essential for success.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming emergency calls and assigned nonemergency lines.
• Confirm incident location and caller contact information.
• Use approved questions to identify nature and urgency of situations.
• Enter details into call-processing or dispatch software accurately.
• Forward incident information promptly to the correct dispatch function.
• Provide calm guidance and essential instructions to callers.
