Job summary

Bronson Healthcare in Kalamazoo is seeking an EMCU Unit Clerk to support accurate medical record handling, scheduling and communications in a fast-paced clinical unit.

You will assist with patient admissions, nurse call systems and document transfers while maintaining orderly records and efficient unit flow. Basic healthcare terminology and data-entry skills are essential for success, under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required for hires after 6/1/2017.
• 1–3 months related experience and/or training preferred.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to input and retrieve data in computerized systems.
• Strong English literacy, writing and reading comprehension.
• Ability to complete competency requirements and orientations.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Handle high volumes of clerical tasks and data entry with accuracy.
• Answer phones, relay messages, direct visitors and coordinate with care teams.
• Maintain patient records, census data and unit communications.
• Assist with admission paperwork and patient care support under RN supervision.
• Input and retrieve information in hospital computerized systems.
• Transport patients and supplies as needed within the unit.
• Monitor and stock supplies to ensure smooth unit operations.
