Job summary

Lubbock County seeks a qualified Energy Management Controls Specialist to manage and operate the EMCS. You will oversee DDC/graphics systems, BACnet networks, and equipment including boilers, chillers, VAVs, and VRF units to optimize energy use while maintaining occupant comfort.

The role requires 8+ years in HVAC with strong IT/network experience, a Texas driver’s license, and preferred Energy Manager Certification. You’ll participate in 24/7 on‑call coverage and coordinate with contractors.

Qualifications

• High school graduation with 8 years HVAC experience, incl. 5 years in computer networks and electronic controls.
• Computer operation, programming and graphics display knowledge required.
• Energy Manager Certification preferred or obtainable within 1 year; Texas driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Manage changes to set points, control devices, and sensors for energy efficiency.
• Inspect and analyze HVAC control components for repair or calibration.
• Install DDC controllers and sensors (temperature sensors, actuators, VFDs).
• Coordinate work with outside contractors; participate in a 24/7 on-call schedule.
• Prepare data for annual O&M budget and 5-year CIP budget for HVAC/R needs.
• Provide field support to technicians.
