Job summary

UW‑Superior seeks Embedded Tutors to support students in designated courses (ACCT 201, BIOL 130, MATH 092 & 112). Tutors attend classes, reinforce concepts, provide one-on-one help, and host study sessions to cultivate independent learning and persistence toward academic goals.

Responsibilities include attending classes, building rapport, collaborating with instructors, offering sessions outside class, and guiding problem-solving with study strategies such as note-taking and time management.

Qualifications

• Have completed the course (or a level higher) with at least a “B.”
• Must have time in your schedule to attend the course of choice
• Be in good academic standing with a prior semester GPA of 3.0 or higher
• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 must be maintained; probation may occur
• Must be available on Tuesday, Sept. 1st for a full‑day training
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and a minimum of seven hours per week

Responsibilities

• Attend all assigned class sessions to stay aligned with course content, expectations, and class culture
• Build rapport with students and encourage participation in tutoring opportunities
• Collaborate with the course instructor to identify topics needing support
• Offer tutoring sessions outside of class to reinforce concepts and skills
• Assist during class activities by answering questions and guiding practice problems
• Model effective study strategies such as note‑taking and time management
