Job summary

AV offers a paid Summer Internship Program for Embedded Software Engineering Interns in the United States. The 12-week onsite program targets college students or recent grads, with a 3.0 GPA requirement and junior level preference.

You will design, develop, and test embedded software for unmanned systems, gaining hands-on experience on microcontrollers and real‑time platforms while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Basic knowledge of embedded systems and microcontrollers.
• Familiarity with C, C++, or Python.
• Understanding of memory management, interrupts, or device drivers.
• Exposure to I2C, SPI, UART, or CAN protocols.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication; team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Assist in writing and testing embedded software for autopilots, sensors, radios, and other onboard components.
• Implement software in C/C++ for real-time and bare-metal systems on microcontrollers.
• Support integration of software with hardware and debug with lab tools.
• Collaborate with electrical, systems, and mechanical engineers to ensure cohesive development.
• Participate in peer reviews, documentation, and configuration management.
• Contribute to lab and field testing of embedded systems for real-world missions.
• Assist in prototypes and proof-of-concept demonstrations.
