Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Intern for a 12‑week, onsite program in the United States. You will work with experienced engineers on embedded software for unmanned aerial and robotic systems, building practical skills in real‑world development and testing.

You will contribute to prototypes and testing across the development lifecycle, gaining hands‑on experience with microcontrollers, sensors, and flight‑critical software in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer/Electrical/CS or related field.
• Fundamental embedded systems knowledge and microcontrollers.
• Familiar with C, C++, or Python and low-level software concepts.
• Experience with I2C, SPI, UART or CAN protocols.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in writing and testing embedded software for autopilots, sensors, radios and onboard components.
• Implement software in C/C++ for real‑time and bare‑metal systems on microcontrollers.
• Support integration of software with hardware and debug with lab tools.
• Collaborate with electrical, systems and mechanical engineers.
• Participate in peer reviews, documentation and configuration management.
• Contribute to lab and field testing of embedded systems for real‑world missions.
• Assist in prototyping and proof‑of‑concept demonstrations.
