Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in San Diego, CA is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of 10–15 engineers within the E&S SWDT department. You will guide staffing, performance reviews, and career development while delivering cutting-edge embedded systems for defense programs.

The role features hands-on technical work (about 80%), requires a Secret clearance, and on-site work at Rancho Carmel.

Qualifications

• BS + 8 years of exp in related STEM field; MS + 6 years of exp.
• Previous experience as a functional manager or technical team leader
• Proficiency in C/C++, Object Oriented programming, and software lifecycle processes
• Excellent written, communication, and emotional intelligence skills
• Ability to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters
• Must have an active Secret Clearance
• On-site at the Rancho Carmel facility

Responsibilities

• Lead a section of approximately 10-15 software engineers and managers.
• Coordinate staffing, recruiting, training, and performance reviews.
• Evaluate salaries and coordinate with HumanResources on adjustments.
• Assist employees in preparing performance goals and career guidance.
• Support the creation, updating, and maintenance of software engineering processes.
