AV in California seeks an entry level Software Engineer I (Embedded) to develop software for embedded devices and test in flight environments. You will design, code, test and debug systems for aircraft and robotic platforms, using established AV tools and practices.

The role involves prototype work, software integration, and potential hardware tradeoffs to meet program requirements. The position offers growth in a fast-paced environment with periodic travel and long hours during deadlines;

Qualificações

• BS degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or related field is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Minimum 0 - 2 years of experience
• Proficient with Python, C, C++11, C++ STL and/or OpenCL
• Knowledge of Visual Studio, Eclipse or similar IDE and defect tracking tools
• Experience with RS-485, RS-232, CAN, I2C, SPI, USB protocols
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Periodic travel likely for testing equipment
• Long hours may be required in field test environments

Responsabilidades

• Writes and tests software to support integration of sensors and embedded processors into aircraft or robotic systems
• Designs and implements software for prototypes and products using established tools and practices; ensure configuration control
• Assists in writing system requirements, test plans, diagnostics, and validation; advise on hardware needs
• Estimate development time and scope to fit timelines and budgets
• Collaborates with other engineering disciplines and supports transitions to production and certification
• Develops proof of concept demonstrations and participates in design reviews
• Follows AV's software development process to produce quality code under supervision
• Works on problems of limited scope in a learning environment
• Performs other duties as assigned
