Job summary

Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa, CA, is seeking an embedded Linux engineer to own the boot chain from firmware to a secure, field-deployed image. You will customize vendor BSPs, patch kernels, and ensure deterministic hardware operation across boots.

The role requires deep kernel/bsp experience, C and Rust/C++, and hands-on hardware debugging on real devices. You’ll work on a U.S.-based mission with strong security requirements and opportunity for impact on critical defense systems.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional embedded Linux platform experience.
• Deep understanding of embedded Linux boot chain (U-Boot, EDK2, device trees, initrd).
• Strong programming in C; Rust or C++ for userspace integration.

Responsibilities

• Own the boot path end-to-end on deployed compute: firmware, U-Boot/UEFI, kernel images, initrd, encrypted storage, and NixOS handoff.
• Customize and patch vendor BSPs (Tegra/Jetson Linux, NXP) and forward-port changes across OS baseline upgrades.
• Ensure peripherals (cameras, radars, CAN networks, radios) enumerate and operate across boots.
• Maintain the signed boot chain and disk encryption while software changes underneath are deployed.
• Build and maintain automated Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) tests to catch regressions.
• Diagnose root causes with serial consoles, logic analyzers, dmesg, and schematics.
• Triage upstream kernel/BSP issues and carry patches forward.
