Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer in Bellevue, WA to develop firmware for USB-C PD controllers on ARM Cortex-M devices. You will bring up new PCBs, configure companion ICs, and implement USB-C/PD behavior while collaborating closely with hardware engineers.

The role involves hands-on debugging with standard lab tools, reading datasheets, and maintaining firmware with Git in a hybrid office setting. This contract-to-hire position offers competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in embedded C on 32-bit MCUs (ARM Cortex-M).
• Experience with USB-C/USB-PD and power negotiation.
• Experience with I2C/SPI/UART peripheral communication.

Responsibilities

• Bring up new PCBs by validating power and clocks, enabling peripherals, and running firmware on new hardware.
• Develop and debug embedded C firmware on ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.
• Configure and drive companion ICs over I2C or other buses.
• Implement and debug USB-C/USB-PD behavior, including power negotiation and fault handling.
• Bench-debug with oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, multimeters, and SWD/JTAG.
• Read datasheets and schematics to configure parts from register tables.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to isolate hardware vs firmware issues.
