LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with an innovative technology organization to identify an Embedded Software Engineer for a 6-month contract opportunity with strong potential for conversion to a permanent position. This role focuses on hands-on firmware development for USB-C PD on ARM Cortex-M platforms in a hybrid Bellevue, WA setting.

The ideal candidate will perform hardware bring-up, develop embedded firmware in C, and collaborate closely with hardware and test teams to deliver robust

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong embedded firmware in C for 32-bit MCUs, especially ARM Cortex-M.
• Experience with I2C, SPI and UART peripherals.
• Familiar with USB-C and USB-PD protocols and power negotiation.
• Hands-on hardware bring-up and low-level firmware debugging on physical hardware.
• Proficient with Git version control.

Responsibilities

• Perform hardware bring-up on new PCB designs and validate power rails, clocks, interfaces, and core functionality.
• Develop and optimize embedded firmware in C for ARM Cortex-M MCUs.
• Configure and communicate with peripheral ICs via I2C, SPI, UART.
• Implement USB-C/USB-PD features including DRP, fault handling, and device state management.
• Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, debugging tools for troubleshooting.
• Analyze schematics and datasheets to craft firmware solutions and diagnose hardware interactions.
• Differentiate hardware vs firmware issues through systematic debugging and testing.
• Document firmware architecture, configurations, and register settings; participate in code reviews; use Git.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, and test teams throughout the lifecycle.
