Job summary

Actalent invites an Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our Bellevue team focused on USB-C Power Delivery hardware. You will write and debug firmware for 32-bit ARM Cortex-M MCUs, perform bring‑up of new PCBs, and collaborate with hardware engineers to validate power rails and peripheral interfaces.

The role is hybrid in Bellevue, with a contract‑to‑hire path. Compensation ranges from $80 to $116 per hour, commensurate with experience, and the team emphasizes hands‑on firmware, debugging tools,

Qualifications

• Proficiency in embedded C on 32-bit MCUs with interrupt handling.
• Understanding USB-C/PD roles, power negotiation, and contracts.
• Experience with I2C/SPI/UART peripheral communications.
• Hardware bring-up experience from power-on to running firmware.
• Ability to read datasheets and schematics to configure parts.
• Proficiency with Git for version control.

Responsibilities

• Bring up new PCBs by validating power and clocks, connecting debuggers, and enabling peripherals.
• Develop and debug embedded C firmware on ARM Cortex-M MCUs.
• Configure companion ICs over I2C/SPI/UART and other buses.
• Implement and debug USB-C/USB-PD behavior including power negotiation.
• Debug at the bench with oscilloscopes, analyzers, multimeters, and SWD/JTAG.
• Document configurations from datasheets and schematics.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to isolate hardware vs firmware issues.
