Job summary

Sigma Design in Bellevue, WA is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer (Contract-to-hire) to develop and debug firmware for new hardware systems. The role focuses on hardware bring-up and hands-on debugging of 32-bit ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers, with emphasis on peripherals, power management, and USB-C/PD integration.

The contractor will collaborate with hardware and software teams in a hybrid environment, perform bench-level tests, and help transition designs to production-ready firmware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent technical discipline.
• 5 years of relevant embedded firmware experience preferred.
• Strong proficiency in embedded C for 32-bit microcontrollers with interrupts and peripheral programming.
• Experience with USB-C and USB Power Delivery concepts.

Responsibilities

• Bring up and validate firmware on new hardware including peripherals and power-on.
• Develop, integrate, and debug embedded C firmware for 32-bit ARM Cortex-M MCUs.
• Configure devices via I2C, SPI, UART interfaces and debug USB-C/PD functionality.
• Perform hands-on bench debugging using oscilloscopes, multimeters, analyzers, and SWD/JTAG.
