Job summary

Sigma Design is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer for a contract-to-hire role in Bellevue, WA. The candidate will develop, debug, and support firmware for new hardware products across the lifecycle, collaborating with hardware and cross-functional teams to bring designs from power-on to production-ready firmware.

Responsibilities include firmware bring-up, USB-C/PD, peripheral integration, and hands-on debugging.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years embedded firmware experience preferred.
• Proficiency in embedded C for 32-bit MCUs.
• Experience with USB-C and USB PD concepts.
• Experience with I2C, SPI, UART interfaces.
• Hardware bring-up and debugging on embedded systems.
• Git or similar version-control systems.

Responsibilities

• Bring up and validate firmware on new hardware.
• Develop and debug embedded C firmware for 32-bit ARM MCUs.
• Configure peripherals via I2C/SPI/UART and USB-C/PD.
• Perform bench-level debugging with oscilloscopes and debuggers.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to resolve firmware issues.
• Maintain board support packages and bootloader functionality.
• Document configurations and development decisions.
