Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. in Towson, MD, onsite, is seeking a Project Engineer for the Electrification and Advanced Technology Group. You will design and prototype motor control solutions, work on sensorless control concepts, and lead embedded software and hardware activities within a small, hands-on team.

Qualifications

• A BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• 4–6 years of experience with C and C++ software development.
• Experience with microcontrollers and peripherals (UART, SPI, I2C).
• Experience with closed-loop control and feedback systems.
• Experience with motor drive systems and Field Oriented Control (FOC).
• Understanding of microcontroller peripherals (timers, GPIO, watchdog, DMA).
• Strong embedded software concepts: RTOS, real-time processing, scheduling, interrupts.
• Experience with both hardware and software development.
• Ability to debug using in-circuit debuggers or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced motor control algorithms for proof‑of‑concept prototypes.
• Implement, simulate, test new motor control features in embedded systems.
• Provide technical leadership on electronic systems and sub-assemblies.
• Develop electrification solutions for power tools and outdoor equipment.
• Document designs and technical decisions clearly for maintenance.
• Communicate needs to internal customers and stakeholders and translate into engineering solutions.
• Develop and maintain project schedules to meet deadlines.
• Mentor and train junior team members.
• Stay current on semiconductor and motor technologies relevant to the role.
