Job summary

United Future is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to join its engineering team in North Syracuse, NY. You will design, develop, and maintain embedded C firmware for microcontroller-based systems used in HVAC/R and industrial applications.

Collaborate with hardware, mechanical, and test engineers; write clean code, debug with oscilloscopes, and participate in product development from concept through production.

Qualifications

• Hands-on embedded C firmware experience required.
• Strong understanding of microcontrollers, interrupts, timers, peripherals, hardware interfaces.
• Experience developing and debugging bare-metal embedded firmware.
• Ability to troubleshoot firmware-hardware interactions.
• Comfortable explaining previous embedded projects and challenges.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware using C programming.
• Develop firmware for 8-, 16-, and 32-bit microcontrollers.
• Create control logic for sensors, switches, relays, motors, and other components.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on product development, integration, and troubleshooting.
• Debug hardware and firmware using oscilloscopes, development tools, and lab equipment.
• Participate in new product development, testing, and validation.
• Troubleshoot existing products and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Document code, participate in design reviews, and support products through manufacturing.
