Job summary

Xcimer Energy, based in Denver, CO, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and operate laser and supporting mechanical systems central to our eximer‑laser based IFE technology. You will contribute across the full product lifecycle from prototypes to power-producing concept validation.

The role requires hands-on problem solving, strong depth in mechanical design, 3D CAD (NX) and FEA, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver world-class hardware for fusion energy

Qualifications

• Education: B.S. in Mechanical, Nuclear, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 3-5 years in mechanical engineering focusing on industrial equipment design.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (NX preferred).
• Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Experience delivering design projects from concept to finish and qualification.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D models, detail part drawings, assemblies, P&ID’s and interface control documents.
• Design structures and pressure vessels, perform proof-tests to code standards.
• Coordinate with mechanical, systems, laser, optical engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Support procurement of hardware for prototype laser amplifiers and conditioning equipment.
• Select sensors and instruments and work with controls team for integration.
• Oversee assembly and assist interdisciplinary technicians.
• Support ongoing operation and future amplifier up-scaling for a power-producing reactor.
• Contribute to design reviews and engineering process improvements.
• Plan and conduct tests, review data, maintain schedules and budgets.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
