Job summary

Coinbase is seeking an experienced engineer to embed with the Compliance organization, surfacing high-leverage automation opportunities across transaction monitoring and regulatory workflows. You will rapidly prototype using the existing AI platform and translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable engineering plans.

You will define build-vs-buy strategies and ensure every output is auditable and regulator-ready.

Qualifications

5+ years of software engineering experience shipping production systems in complex environments.
Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications with evaluation frameworks and guardrails.
Ability to embed with non-technical domain experts and translate workflows into engineering requirements.
Familiarity with transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory filing workflows, and audit-ready data handling.
Experience in compliance-tech, RegTech, or financial services environments is a plus.
Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities

Embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to surface automation opportunities with the greatest leverage.
Prototype quickly using Coinbase's AI platform as the baseline before new builds.
Own the Compliance automation roadmap in partnership with leadership and translate workflows into engineering requirements.
Define build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling and ensure auditability and traceability.
Drive adoption through brown-bag sessions, prototypes, and feedback loops.
