Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an ELL Paraprofessional at Filer Intermediate/Middle School to support English Language Learners in academics and language development. The role involves aiding teachers with instruction, developing materials, and fostering an inclusive classroom environment.

You will provide one-on-one and small-group support, monitor progress, and help implement IEPs while facilitating communication with families and promoting cultural awareness. This is a full-time position at the school.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred.
• Experience with ELL students or educational settings is desirable.
• Understanding of second language acquisition and effective instructional strategies for ELL students.
• Excellent communication skills with students, parents and staff.
• Second language proficiency is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and build positive relationships.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers by delivering effective instruction to ELL students and preparing instructional materials.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to improve language skills.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement IEPs for ELL students.
• Facilitate communication between ELL students, teachers, and parents to minimize language barriers.
• Support integration of ELL students by promoting cultural awareness and understanding.
• Participate in professional development to enhance ELL education skills.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as record-keeping and data entry related to ELL programs.
• Contribute to a positive school culture by participating in events and activities.
