Job summary

Johnson County Community College is seeking non-credit ELL instructors to teach English to non-native speakers at the West Park and Center of Grace locations. The role focuses on reading, vocabulary, listening, speaking, writing, and grammar in a student-centered classroom environment.

Responsibilities include preparing weekly lesson plans, delivering curriculum, using the LMS, maintaining records, onboarding new students, and participating in professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, ESL or related area.
• Must have experience with English language learners in a classroom.
• Ability to create digital lesson plans and maintain a student-centered classroom.
• Demonstrate classroom management and interactive teaching skills.

Responsibilities

• Create and submit weekly lesson plans using provided templates.
• Implement curriculum emphasizing life/work skills, digital literacy, civics, and more.
• Teach in person at West Park and Center of Grace locations.
• Maintain student data and attendance records.
• Conduct early/mid-semester conferences to discuss goals.
• Assist with new student onboarding and testing.
• Participate in staff development each semester.
• Complete mandatory training and onboarding tasks.
