Johnson County Community College is seeking an Adult Basic Education/GED Instructor to deliver learner-centered instruction focused on basic literacy and math, leading students toward high school equivalency readiness. The role involves one-on-one and small-group teaching, progress monitoring, and coordinating volunteer support.

The position is a non-credit, exempt, part-time instructor role with a varied schedule and a starting pay of $26.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Three or more years’ experience in education.
• Strong math and English skills; strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
• Demonstrated ability to improve learner academic skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide learner-centered instruction for basic literacy and math.
• Prepare learners for GED exam with reading, writing, math.
• Create individual education plans and monitor progress toward passing the GED exam.
• Instruct students one-on-one and in small groups.
• Engage community volunteers to assist with one-on-one instruction.
• Create reports and maintain records; participate in professional development.
