Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect blood from patients of all ages, ensure proper paperwork, and maintain an efficient, quality-focused lab environment. The role emphasizes accurate labeling, patient identification, and timely specimen processing to support Floyd lab or external facilities.

Qualified candidates will hold PBT (ASCP) or equivalent licensure, a high school diploma with formal phlebotomy training, and at least one year of experience.

Qualifications

• PBT (ASCP) or equivalent licensure required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal Phlebotomy training program; completion of departmental clinical evaluation checklist.
• At least one year of phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Consistently obtains high quality specimens by venipuncture.
• Performs special procedures as needed.
• Collects blood cultures with contamination rate below established goal.
• Establishes positive patient identification.
• Ensures timely collection of all specimen by placing advances orders in proper slots on collection board and by collecting stats within established turnaround times.
• Correctly labels all specimens and ensures that collections are not missed due to errors and echos from the computer system.
