Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Phlebotomist for the Floyd Medical Center Lab. The role collects blood samples from patients of all ages, ensuring accurate labeling and proper paperwork for processing. The incumbent supports quality control and maintains a clean, organized phlebotomy area.

Requires a High School diploma, formal phlebotomy training, and at least three years in a hospital setting. Day shift, Monday–Friday with 5:00 AM start. Beneficial certifications include ASCP.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a formal training program in Phlebotomy.
• Three years of hospital experience required.

Responsibilities

• Consistently obtains high quality specimens by venipuncture.
• Performs special procedures as needed.
• Collects blood cultures with contamination rate below established goal.
• Establishes positive patient identification.
• Follows all Continuous Quality Improvement standards.
• Keeps the phlebotomy area clean and stocked with supplies.
