Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on high voltage power systems up to 500kV. You will lead testing projects, mentor technicians, and ensure compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards in regional and national assignments.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years HV testing experience, NETA III/IV certification, and strong knowledge of protective relays and test equipment (Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz).

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV Certification (current and in good standing, or equivalent exp)
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage environments
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record
• Willingness to travel regionally (up to 75%)

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based)
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements
