Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA Level III/IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV. The role requires traveling regionally and nationally, with a compensation structure reflecting high certification levels and experience.

Applicants should hold NETA Level III/IV certification, have 7+ years of testing in HV/MV environments, and be proficient with major test equipment.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification current and in good standing.
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments.
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS/ATS standards.
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF, and equivalents.
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel regionally (up to 75%).

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers.
• Interpret and analyze test results; write comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor Level I/II technicians in the field and serve as technical lead on multi-discipline teams.
