Job summary

PACCAR is seeking a CCD Test Engineer based in Mount Vernon, WA to lead and support climatic chassis dynamometer testing for powertrain systems. You will mentor CCD staff, improve test protocols, and ensure compliance with emission regulations while supporting international divisions.

This role emphasizes independent initiative, collaboration, and hands-on engineering in a dynamic, team-driven environment at PACCAR’s Engine Test Laboratory.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of applicable experience with at least 3 years performing powertrain testing.
• Knowledge of diesel engine and exhaust aftertreatment system operation.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Self-motivation and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct performance, durability, and emissions testing of heavy-duty diesel and battery electric powertrain systems to support program goals for PACCAR’s European and North American divisions.
• Support PACCAR organizations by testing and validating new engine, aftertreatment, and battery electric vehicle hardware and software.
• Mentor CCD technical staff on cell and engine operation, emissions measurement practices, data analysis, and quality validation.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the quality and efficiency of powertrain testing, emissions measurement, and data processing in the CCD.
• Work with the CCD team to perform facility and software upgrades to ensure compliance with 40 CFR Part 1066.
• Support PACCAR organizations by providing and improving testing tools used to calibrate, evaluate, and validate new engine and aftertreatment hardware and software.
• Improve existing test protocols to increase automation and test cell utilization.
• Develop methods to align test protocols, data processing tools, and testing methods.
