Job summary

PACCAR’s Mount Vernon facility seeks a Climatic Chassis Dynamometer (CCD) Test Engineer to lead and support dynamometer testing of heavy-duty powertrain systems. You will mentor CCD staff and drive improvements in testing practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and delivering high-quality data to internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of applicable experience with at least 3 years performing powertrain testing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct performance, durability, and emissions testing of heavy-duty diesel and battery electric powertrain systems to support program goals for PACCAR's European and North American divisions.
• Support PACCAR organizations by testing and validating new engine, aftertreatment, and battery electric vehicle hardware and software.
• Mentor CCD technical staff on cell and engine operation, emissions measurement practices, data analysis, and quality validation.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the quality and efficiency of powertrain testing, emissions measurement, and data processing in the CCD.
• Work with the CCD team to perform facility and software upgrades to ensure compliance with 40 CFR Part 1066.
• Support PACCAR organizations by providing and improving testing tools used to calibrate, evaluate, and validate new engine and aftertreatment hardware and software.
• Improve existing test protocols to increase automation and test cell utilization.
• Develop methods to align test protocols, data processing tools, and testing methods.

Requisition Summary

The Climatic Chassis Dynamometer (CCD) Test Engineer will be based at PACCAR's Engine Test Laboratory (ETL) in Mount Vernon, Washington. The engineer filling this role will lead and support CCD testing activities for both internal and external customers while contributing to the testing and validation of PACCAR powertrain systems. This position also serves as a technical resource, providing leadership and mentorship to team members in a collaborative, hands-on environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Test cell experience supporting heavy-duty on-highway engine development
• Proficiency with AVL test cell automation systems and data analysis tools, including PUMA and CONCERTO
• Five or more years of experience performing powertrain testing
• Experience with PACCAR engine and aftertreatment development tools, including ATI Vision
• Working knowledge of PACCAR products
• Experience working with CCD and ETL technician staff to support teamwork and employee development
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering
