Job summary

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Access and Eligibility Services division seeks an Eligibility Services Clerk to support the AES office in processing applications, reviewing documents, and assisting clients with food, medical care, cash assistance and other social services.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to learn policy regulations, and strong communication skills to help clients navigate complex procedures in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of computers and internet usage.
• Ability to listen to clients, elicit, relate and evaluate information; and interpret terms as needed.
• Ability to complete required work within specified deadlines.
• Ability to read, understand, and apply a variety of interrelated instructions, such as guidelines, regulations, and policies.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
• Opens and sorts mail and documents for processing.
• Prepares and proofs correspondence and forms using a computer.
• Communicates information clearly to internal/external parties.
• Maintains records, files, or logs and retrieves or purges as needed.
• Batches forms prior to data entry and ensures complete documentation.
