Job summary

Schindler Elevator Corporation in Boston is seeking a Field Superintendent of Modernization (MOD) to lead elevator modernization projects and oversee field technicians across multiple sites, ensuring safety, schedule adherence, quality, and cost control.

You will coordinate scheduling, procurement, and logistics, track progress, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver results while maintaining strong relationships with union leadership and customers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of technical leadership experience or elevator industry experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant work experience in the elevator industry or related field
• Strong problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage sensitive employee relations with proven leadership skills
• Proficiency in MS Office suite
• Strong organizational skills and experience managing tradespeople
• Flexibility to be on-call as needed
• Adaptability in a fast-paced environment
• Prior Project Management skills preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee elevator modernization projects, managing field technicians across multiple sites to meet safety, schedule, quality and cost targets.
• Coordinate scheduling, material procurement, and field logistics for timely project completion.
• Track project progress and labor allocation to maximize efficiency and profitability.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, project management, and service teams to deliver high-quality results.
• Manage project documentation including invoicing, change orders, and financial forecasting.
• Maintain relationships with union representatives and support staffing needs including hiring and disciplinary actions.
