Job summary

Schindler Elevator Corporation (U.S.) seeks a Field Superintendent - Modernization in the Washington, DC area to oversee elevator modernization projects, lead field technicians, and ensure safety, schedule, quality and cost targets.

You will coordinate procurement, manage labor, and work with sales, engineering, project management, and service teams while maintaining strong relationships with unions and customers. Base salary range and incentives apply.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of technical leadership experience or elevator industry experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant work experience in the elevator industry or related field
• Strong problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage sensitive employee relations with proven leadership skills
• Proficiency in MS Office suite
• Strong organizational skills and experience managing tradespeople
• Flexibility to be on-call as needed

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage field technicians, overseeing multiple projects to ensure adherence to schedule, budget, and safety standards.
• Coordinate project scheduling, material procurement, and field logistics to maintain smooth operations and timely project completion.
• Track project progress and labor allocation to maximize efficiency and profitability.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, project management, and service teams to deliver high-quality results.
• Manage project documentation including invoicing, change orders, and financial forecasting.
• Maintain positive relationships with union representatives and support staffing needs including hiring and disciplinary actions.
