Job summary

Schindler Elevator Corporation is seeking a Field Superintendent – Modernization in Washington, DC area to lead field technicians on elevator modernization projects, oversee scopes, manpower, and budgeting, and support bids with cross-functional teams.

You will define project scope, coordinate resources, ensure safety and quality, and drive on-time delivery while liaising with unions and customers. A technical background and supervisory experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or 3 years of technical elevator industry experience.
• Experience in installation and service of elevators/escalators preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience with a unionized workforce is preferred.
• Must be able to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Build a strong team environment by leading and supporting field technicians
• Manage the training and development of technicians on established processes, tools, and standards
• Foster clear communication across the team while maintaining strong working relationships with the local union
• Ensure all modernization projects meet company quality and safety standards, as well as contract requirements
• Monitor project progress and drive efficiency in execution
• Implement customer and company requirements related to quality, performance reliability, and passenger safety
• Support the sales team in estimating modernization bids and assist with investigating and resolving customer concerns
• Promote a culture of teamwork and commitment to quality across the workforce
• Participate in company professional development programs to strengthen knowledge of products, services, and processes
