Job summary

Schindler Elevator Corporation (U.S.) is seeking a Field Superintendent of Modernization to lead elevator modernization projects in the Chicago area. You will supervise field technicians, manage multiple projects, and ensure safety, schedule adherence, quality, and cost control.

Responsibilities include coordinating scheduling, procurement, logistics, tracking progress, and maintaining documentation. Collaboration with sales, engineering, and service teams is essential, as is managing union

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or minimum of 3 years of technical experience in the elevator industry or related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office & Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee elevator modernization projects, managing field technicians and multiple projects to meet safety, schedule adherence, quality, and cost management.
• Support area and company objectives through effective project oversight, procurement, and employee management.
• Coordinate project scheduling, material procurement, and field logistics to maintain smooth operations and timely project completion.
• Track project progress and labor allocation to maximize efficiency and profitability.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, project management, and service teams to deliver high-quality results.
• Manage project documentation including invoicing, change orders, and financial forecasting.
• Maintain positive relationships with union representatives and support staffing needs including hiring and disciplinary actions.
