Job summary

Iowa City Community School District is seeking an Elementary Supervisory Paraeducator to support students in a classroom setting under the supervision of building staff. You will work as part of an educational team to promote student learning and safety.

The role involves supervising students during recess and lunch, assisting with health concerns, preparing instructional materials, and supporting teachers and school staff. Prior paraeducation credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• AA/BA degree or Para certification required or preferred.
• Experience with children is valued but not required.
• Post-secondary coursework in education preferred but not required.
• Must be a self-starter with initiative.
• Able to adapt to student needs and work well with a team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during recess and ensure safety, reporting issues to staff.
• Monitor lunch period, seating, behavior, and assist with food distribution as needed.
• Assist with basic health concerns and medicine distribution.
• Record daily lunch counts and coordinate with Food Service for meals.
• Assist with attendance on absences and communicate with families.
