Job summary

Iowa City Community School District Penn Elementary in North Liberty, IA is seeking an Elementary Supervisory Paraeducator to support students in academic, social, emotional and physical needs under supervision of staff, in a team environment.

The position requires AA/BA or para certification; it includes 175 contract days and a salary of $16.05 per hour. Duties involve supervising recess and lunch, assisting teachers, health support, attendance, and preparing instructional materials.

Qualifications

• AA degree or BA degree, or para certification.
• Experience with children preferred but not required.
• Post-secondary coursework in educational field preferred but not required.
• Initiative to be a self-starter and work with an educational team.
• Ability to be flexible and use good judgment in varying tasks.
• Ability to use office equipment and communicate with staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during recess and lunch, assisting staff as needed.
• Assist with health concerns and medicine distribution.
• Assist with attendance, tardies, and calling families.
• Prepare materials for instruction in collaboration with teachers.
• Assist in media center when needed.
• Respect confidentiality of student records and adhere to paraeducator agreements.
• Other duties as assigned.
