Job summary

Mann Elementary in Iowa City, IA seeks an Elementary Supervisory Paraeducator for 11:00-12:30, part-time, 182 contract days, starting immediately.

Under the supervision of the building principal, you will supervise students during recess and lunch, assist with health concerns and classroom materials, and support the educational team to meet students' needs.

Qualifications include AA or BA degree or para certification; experience preferred; flexibility, initiative, and good judgment.

Qualifications

• AA Degree or BA degree, or Para certification
• Previous experience with children preferred but not required
• Post-secondary coursework in educational field preferred but not required
• Initiative to be a self-starter
• Intuitive to the needs of the student
• Ability to work well with teachers, staff, admins, AEA and parents
• Flexibility in assignment
• Good judgment with unexpected problems
• Ability to use office equipment
• District may find appropriate alternatives

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during recess and monitor safety
• Supervise lunch, seating, behavior and dismissal, assist lunch staff
• Assist with basic student health concerns and medicine distribution
• Assist with daily lunch count and order lunches
• Assist with attendance and calls to families
• Assist classroom teachers in preparing instructional materials
• Assist in media center when needed
• Respect confidentiality of student records
• Conform to negotiated paraeducator agreement
• Other duties as assigned
