Job summary

Helena Public Schools is seeking a Social Services Coordinator to serve elementary students, providing counseling, planning, and linkage to community supports. The role supports academic success, social-emotional development, and overall well-being within the school setting.

The position is 10 months per school calendar, with starting pay $30.33–$34.32 per hour based on experience and education, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• MSW from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
• Two years of experience working with adolescents in educational, clinical, or related settings.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of child and adolescent development, trauma-informed practices, and school systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate documentation and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges.
• Develop, implement, and monitor intervention strategies for issues such as anxiety, depression, substance use/misuse, truancy, and family crises.
• Create individualized student support plans and monitor progress toward goals.
• Maintain accurate, confidential student records per district, state, and federal requirements.
• Participate in multidisciplinary teams, including IEP and 504 meetings.
• Respond to student safety and mental health emergencies and follow crisis protocols.
• Connect families to community resources including mental health services, housing and food supports.
• Develop and deliver prevention and skill-building programs for social skills, conflict resolution, coping strategies, and emotional regulation.
