Job summary

Grosse Pointe Public Schools System is seeking an Elementary School Resource Program Teacher - Building TBD (1.0 FTE). The teacher will plan and deliver specialized instruction for students with IEPs, serving as case manager to ensure compliance and progress within the general curriculum.

The role requires Michigan teacher certification with SPED endorsement, experience with students with disabilities, and strong collaboration with staff, parents, and the Child Study Team.

Qualifications

• Michigan teaching certificate with special education endorsement.
• Experience with students with disabilities.
• Experience supporting core content and accommodations.
• Knowledge of positive behavior interventions and supports.
• Ability to administer and interpret academic assessments.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and staff.
• Ability to participate in Child Study Teams and IEP processes.
• Knowledge of eligibility areas and working with students.

Responsibilities

• Determine instructional needs based on assessments; provide direct or supplemental instruction.
• Support functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans.
• Use technology to enhance instruction and student independence.
• Apply accommodations/modifications to align with general education.
• Lead IEP meetings and maintain progress notes.
• Document progress and communicate with families regularly.
• Plan and deliver instruction with clear objectives and lessons.
• Coordinate services across multiple buildings and schedules.
• Collaborate with general education staff to meet IEP goals.
• Model professional and ethical standards with all stakeholders.
• Maintain collegial relationships with parents and staff.
• Attend meetings and participate in district initiatives as assigned.
