Qualifications

• Competency in the administration and interpretation of academic ability and achievement assessments.
• Skills and abilities to develop and promote positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

• Knowledge of all areas of eligibility and ability to work effectively with students in all areas of eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Determine instructional needs of students based on assessment data and district curriculum; provide direct and/or supplemental instruction.

• Use technology to enhance instruction and increase student independence.
• Apply knowledge of accommodations and modifications related to the general education curriculum.
• Develop and facilitate timely IEP meetings.
• Maintain service logs and communicate progress to students and parents.
• Provide academic instruction, behavioral supports, remediation, and guided practice using objectives and lessons.
• Create and manage a schedule of service across multiple buildings.
• Collaborate with general education staff to promote IEP goals and curriculum expectations.
• Maintain professional and ethical standards with all stakeholders.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with parents, staff, and community services.
• Participate in staff meetings, in-service activities, and school improvement planning.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout school and classroom.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at a time.
• Must be able to assist students who have physical difficulties.
• Occasional bending, kneeling, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs.
• Prolonged periods sitting and working on the computer to complete necessary paperwork.

Salary is based on the GPEA CBA, which may or may not recognize previous professional teaching experience.
