Job summary

The Grosse Pointe Public School System is seeking an Elementary School Resource Program Teacher (1.0 FTE, Building TBD) to plan and provide specialized instruction for students with IEPs. Serve as case manager and ensure IEP compliance within the district.

Responsibilities include data-driven instruction, IEP meetings, progress documentation, and collaboration with general education staff to meet curriculum goals across multiple buildings.

Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsement in at least one area of special education; SM, SE, or SV preferred.
  • Experience in working with students with disabilities.
  • Experience in supporting core content and providing accommodations.
  • Knowledge of positive behavior interventions and supports.
  • Competency in the administration and interpretation of academic ability and achievement assessments.
  • Skills and abilities to develop and promote positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to cooperatively participate in Child Study Teams, evaluations, and IEPs.
  • Knowledge of all areas of eligibility and ability to work effectively with students in all areas of eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Determine instructional needs of students based on assessment data and district curriculum provide direct and/or supplemental instruction to students.
  • Support functional behavior assessments and development of behavior intervention plans and POS
  • Use technology to enhance instruction and increase student independence.
  • Know accommodations and modifications related to general education curriculum.
  • Develop and facilitate timely IEP meetings
  • Maintain service logs and documentation of student progress and communicate with students and parents.
  • Provide academic instruction, behavioral supports, remediation, and guided practice using objectives and lessons.
  • Create and maintain a schedule of service and manage working in multiple buildings.
  • Collaborate with general education staff to promote IEP goals and curriculum alignment.
  • Model professional and ethical standards with stakeholders.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with parents, staff, and community services agencies.
  • Maintain timely written and oral communication with parents and staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-service activities, and school improvement planning.
