Job summary

Austin Elementary School in DeKalb County is seeking a SPED Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. The role emphasizes implementing IEP-driven supports, assisting teachers, and promoting a safe, conducive learning environment.

The paraprofessional will provide instructional support in small groups or one-on-one, assist with behavior plans, and help with assessments and materials preparation as part of a collaborative team. This is a full-time on-site position at Austin Elementary.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.
Associate degree or higher from a Georgia PSC approved college or university.
Minimum 60 sem. hours or 90 qtr. hours with GPA 2.0 and a paraprofessional certificate.

Responsibilities

Assists students with physical and personal care needs per IEP under supervision.
Supports students with health-related care and non-medical assistance as trained.
Provides small group and one-on-one instruction per lesson plans.
Monitors students before/after school and during non-instructional times.
Assists teachers with classroom management and data collection.
Implements accommodations and modifications per IEPs and monitors progress.
