Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education in Illinois seeks a Special Education Teacher to lead instructional programs for elementary students with IEPs in learning centers or classrooms. The role emphasizes differentiated instruction, PBIS, and collaboration with staff and families.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or related field.
Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining IL professional educator (PEL) credential.
Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining IL learning behavior specialist (LBS1) credential.
Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training.
Prior experience with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction; preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.
Experience with special education services and compliance, particularly for students with learning disabilities, emotional disturbance and/or challenging behaviors.
Experience with students with individualized education plans (IEP’s).
Proven success in developing and implementing effective education plans for at-risk students with diverse needs.

Responsibilities

Create an inclusive, collaborative learning environment with students, parents, colleagues and administrators.
Implement PBIS strategies, behavior expectations, rewards and consequences.
Track student progress and maintain detailed records and reports.
Deliver differentiated instruction in co-teaching settings to meet IEP goals.
Adapt curricula and instructional approaches to diverse learning needs.
Utilize varied instructional methods and educational software to engage students.
Manage student caseloads and develop/update IEP goals and interventions.
