Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education, a ChanceLight company, is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support elementary students in an alternative education setting. You will design personalized learning experiences, deliver targeted instruction, and collaborate with teams to meet IEP goals.

The role emphasizes PBIS, differentiated instruction, and ongoing professional growth within a supportive, mission-driven environment that values innovation and student growth.

Qualifications

• Eligible for IL professional educator (PEL) credential or current holder
• IL Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) credential in process or obtained
• Experience with IEPs, curriculum development, differentiation
• Experience in alternative, special education or behavioral health settings
• Ability to implement crisis management training
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Lead instructional process for elementary students with IEPs, designing personalized learning experiences
• Deliver targeted instruction using innovative curriculum resources and educational software
• Create comprehensive lesson plans and schedules aligned to standards
• Collaborate in co-teaching environments to meet IEP goals
• Track student progress and maintain accurate records and reports
• Implement PBIS strategies and reinforce classroom behavior expectations
• Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs
• Develop and modify curricular content for varied student abilities
• Utilize technology to support instruction and student engagement
• Manage caseloads and develop/update IEPs and interventions
• Prepare detailed lesson plans and organize instructional materials
• Stay informed on current research-based practices in special education
• Respond to feedback and pursue ongoing professional growth
• Support school community with additional duties as assigned
