Job summary

The Hempfield School District seeks a Special Education Supervisor (Elementary) to provide leadership and mentoring to administrative, instructional, and support staff in special education policies and programs. Qualifications

• Five to ten years' experience in teaching in the special education or related field.
• PA Instructional II and Supervisory teaching certification required.
• Knowledge of special education law, disabilities, diagnosis, current trends and interventions.
• Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the PA School Code).
• Background checks: PA State Criminal History, Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Background Check.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and evaluate programs to provide high-quality services for students, parents, and staff.
• Complete annual evaluations for district staff based on classroom observation and coaching/mentoring sessions.
• Work with administrators to provide in-service training and support for inclusion activities across the district.
• Assess personnel needs and assist with recruiting, interviewing, and assignment of staff.
• Assess and monitor budget needs and submit annual reports to the Director of Special Education.
• Lead professional development activities for special education and related staff.
• Participate in activities that engage parents and community stakeholders in special education concerns.
• Collaborate with principals to establish school schedules that promote inclusion in least restrictive environments.
