Qualifications

• Advanced degree in special education required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in special education settings.
• Experience implementing and monitoring compliance with federal and state requirements.
• Experience with special education data management systems, CT-SEDS or similar.
• Experience leading professional development in special education.
• In-depth understanding of IEP development, implementation, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Lead all elementary special education programs and services district-wide.
• Collaborate to establish policies and procedures and manage Child Counts.
• Represent special education on district teams and drive alignment with initiatives.
• Build partnerships to support integrated service delivery for students.
• Prepare and deliver reports and communications for the Executive Director of Special Education.
• Oversee development and improvement planning for department programs.
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements and manage disputes and due process.
