Job summary

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking an Instructional Aide to support elementary students in a dynamic Special Education team. You will assist with IEP implementation, provide classroom support, and help tailor instruction to individual learning goals.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, behavior interventions, progress tracking, and strong communication with families. A CA driver license and crisis management training are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; basic skills test passed.
• Associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
• CA driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
• Ability to obtain crisis management training certification.
• Paraprofessional/teaching assistant credential preferred.
• Experience supporting children, esp. in special education or behavioral health.
• Skilled with children with learning disabilities/autism/EB disorders.
• Comfort driving with students before/after school.
• Strong oral/written communication and organization.
• Proficient with instructional technology and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to create a supportive classroom environment.
• Implement individualized instruction and behavioral interventions.
• Monitor student progress during lessons to ensure fidelity.
• Communicate progress with teachers and families.
• Support and mentor students facing academic challenges.
• Document student behaviors and provide actionable observations.
• Prepare behavioral reports and activity logs.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records.
• Contribute to accreditation and school-wide meetings.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of instructional activities.
