Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional Elementary and Special Education teacher with an SEI endorsement for a long-term substitute position in Grade 5 at Frederick Elementary in Dorchester, MA. This per diem-like long-term role starts ASAP and ends 11/30/26.

The role requires delivering inclusive instruction, aligning with state frameworks, and supporting students with SEI and diverse needs. Collaboration with staff and timely progress reporting are essential.

Qualifications

  • Education Level: Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Massachusetts Teaching License Elementary 1-6 AND SEI Endorsement OR ESL license required.
  • Meet all state/federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States by first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Elementary General Curriculum in an inclusive setting with Special Needs and English Language Learners (SEI).
  • Provide small-group instruction to students with moderate to severe cognitive delays to support progress in the general curriculum.
  • Write and implement goals and objectives aligned with IEPs and provide regular progress reports.
  • Provide accommodations for learning and testing; develop curriculum and MCAS prep as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members to respond to student needs and support modification.

Education

Bachelor's degree
Massachusetts Teaching License Elementary 1-6 & SEI Endorsement OR ESL license
Standards of Effective Teaching
Authorization to work in the United States
