Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks an Elementary Specialist Teacher with an SEI endorsement to join our community of learners and leaders. This anticipated vacancy may begin as a Long-Term Substitute if the position does not vacate by the start of the school year.

The role covers for planning periods, providing content support beyond homeroom, and advancing district goals for equitable instruction and high expectations for all students.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Massachusetts Elementary 1-6 Teaching License required.
  • SEI endorsement or ESL certification required or dual certification preferred.
  • Meet all state and federal guidelines to be Highly Qualified.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Create an interdisciplinary course of study integrating reading, writing, and analytical skills across core content areas.
  • Implement district goals and curriculum as outlined in the District Curriculum Universal Accommodation Plan.
  • Establish a developmentally appropriate, child-centered classroom with positive behavioral expectations.
  • Build a classroom structure that fosters positive relationships and engaged learning.
  • Administer district mid-year and end-of-year assessments per district guidelines.
